Besides being a 25 year member of the Florida Irrigation Society, David Wickham is a Florida registered landscape architect with a dual master’s degree. Mr. Wickham has been a National and Florida recognized xeriphytic (drought tolerant, water and energy conserving, and lower maintenance) irrigation consultant for almost 38 years. He has written numerous state and nationally published articles on the many common water wasting irrigation design, installation, operation and maintenance items that many people make. He annually speaks to numerous organizations and departments on Florida irrigation system water wasting oversights, and, how easily and cheaply they are to correct.
For the last decade, David Wickham has chaired the FIS committee for Florida’s statewide irrigation standards and specifications. These statewide standards and specifications are what the current Florida Building Codes, Appendix F, are loosely based upon. Over the last several decades, he has worked with numerous municipal, county, water management districts and state departments in trying to educate them in creating/promulgating reasonable irrigation codes and ordinances for the betterment of irrigation throughout the State of Florida.
